Step-by-Step Tutorial
Step 1 – Attach Cords to the Ring:
- Take 2x beige cords of 1.5m long.
- Attach these cords to the wooden ring using Lark’s Head Knot.
Step 2 – Start the Pattern:
- Make two Square Knots.
Step 3 – Adding Cords:
- Add 2x 1.5m beige cords.
- Fold one cord on half, then pin it on the board next to the loose strands on the left.
- Make a Square Knot with the first 4 strands.
- Repeat on the right side.
Step 4 – Continue to add the cords:
- Keep adding the cords on the sided of the project from the longer to the shorter.
- With the strands in the center, make an Alternating Square Knot.
Step 5 – Creating the basket for the plant’s pot:
- Fold the project in half.
- Make a Square Knot with the beige strands to connect the sides.
- Continue Alternaring Square Knots until you complete 3 rows from the centered Square Knot.
Step 6 – Closing the bottom of the basket:
- For the next row, make two alternating Square Knots, then skip the next 4 strands.
- Repeat the pattern until you complete the row.
- Make two more rows after that. At the end, you should have 6 rows of alternating Square Knots, counting from the first beige knot at the front.
Step 6 – Gathering Knot:
- Put together all the loose strands.
- Starting from the back of the plant hanger, use 1x 90cm long beige cord to make a Gathering Knot.
- I wrapped the long tail about 8 times.
Step 7 – Trimming the Fringe:
- Before trimming the fringe. If needed adjust the bottom of the plant hanger, by pulling in the loose ends of the strands.
- Measure 15cm from the Gathering Knot.
- Then, cut off the strands at that mark. You can use some tape to secure the cord, and make sure the strands are even.
