Heart Pattern Diagram
Below is the visual diagram for this Macrame Heart Pattern Coaster.
Each row is color-coded to help you follow the heart shape and cord placement easily.

💡 Tip: Keep the diagram visible while knotting, it’s especially helpful when switching colors or repeating rows.
Step-by-Step Tutorial
Step 1: Prepare the Cords
Cut all cords according to the measurements listed above. Attach them to the dowel using Lark’s Head Knots, following the color sequence shown below.
Step 2: Start the Pattern
Begin working row by row using the Reverse Double Half Hitch Knot (RDHHK), following the diagram carefully. Take two cords to create the RDHHK. Pay attention to cord direction and color placement to keep the heart shapes aligned.
For the even rows, always start by separating the first and last cords of the row, then alternate the knots with the previous row.
Step 3: Continue the Design
Repeat the pattern rows until the full heart design is complete. Note that the pattern diagram image stops at row 11. You need to make a few more rows to complete the coaster. Repeat from row 2 to row 11.
At the end you should have created 21 rows in total.
Take your time! Especially if this is your first project using this knot.
Step 4: Finish the Fringes
Once the coaster is complete:
Remove it from the dowel.
Lightly trim the cords if needed.
Comb the fringes.
Trim evenly (I left about a two-finger length).
